heartless_huntsman: (sheriff)
Said sheriff had been running a little late, and was feeling disproportionately nervous about that fact. As if Mr. I-fall-asleep-at-the-most-inconvenient-moments-possible would really blame a man for having unexpected things getting in the way when going somewhere.

He'd left the office early, thinking that would give him plenty of time, and had ended up getting roped into covering for someone at the animal shelter because they had to leave early too (probably for a similar reason as Graham had left work early). Why was he there in the first place, you ask? Well, that had to do with what he was getting Ripley for christmas, a gift he wasn't entirely sure about since it was a kind of sensitive thing to just give someone but he figured if Rip didn't want it he could just keep it himself. Hence it was tucked away against his chest under his leather jacket, safe and warm.

Getting it there, however, had been a bit of a challenge. While he was getting dressed (which had taken a lot longer than it should because he'd found himself fretting over every single detail in a ridiculous fashion) the present had managed to hide itself away in a most ingenious fashion. It took him forever to find it again, and then he couldn't remember where he'd put his gift for Wolf and so he tore up his whole apartment looking for it before remembering that it was in the trunk of his car, giving Rip's gift ample time to get lost all over again.

After coming very close to literally tear his hair out, all gifts were finally located and he got safely to Ripley's house without any further mishaps.

He didn't know why, but as he rang the doorbell he felt a strange fluttering in the pit of his stomach. What was he so nervous about? He visited Ripley all the time! Especially these days.

But... Christmas was something special, and you spent it with special people. Not that being special to your best friend should be such a big deal but... there was this whole other dimension to things after all. So, ridiculous or not, Graham was nervous as hell as he waited for Rip to open the door.
